Students Passionate for God

One of the hardest things about student ministry is cultivating a passion for God and His Word. Most students either have too much to worry about or they just don't care. We say that passion for God is the most important thing, but it isn't lived out in the lives of the members of the church. Because we don't model what it means to be a Christians, Christianity becomes another extra-curricular activity like football or Key Club.

The Possible Solution:
1. Long-term discipleship
2. Church Members Model
3. Parents Model
4. Prayer
5. Correct Selection of Friends
6.
7.
8.

Here's where you respond. What are some other possible solutions to creating a passion in students for God and His Word?

Model accountability. How many church members do you think lack passion because they're caught up in secret sin, or perhaps even un-biblical shame and guilt? Most church members don't have real accountability relationships, so the youth don't have that modeled for them.

Want to spread a passion for God and His Word....model it, model it and model it!!
Paul was passionate, and he wanted those around him to imitate him (1 Cor 4:16). We must let others see the "Sovereign Joy", as Augustine put it, in our lives is Christ and we grow closer to Him and experience a more intimate relationship with Him through the study of His Word.
So imitate Paul as he imitates Christ, and be a model for those kids. As those kids see you, a person they look up to (whether you know it or not), living a joyful life in Christ Jesus and spending time in God's Word, they will want to imitate you. As they begin to read God's Word that passion will come to them from HIM!! Only God can give that passion, not us.
