Brett Favre - Stay Home!

I want to start by saying I love Brett Favre. Not only is a great quarterback, but he is a great person. I really, really like him, however I don't think he should come back to the NFL or at least to Green Bay. Green Bay is trying to move on but for the last couple of years they have been on this yo-yo of "if or if not" Brett is retiring. Finally he announced his retirement this year and the team started to move on. Aaron Rodgers was named as the starting QB and he has spent time working with his team getting used to be THE GUY. Now it seems that all that work might have been for nothing.

As good as Favre is, I think that he will set the team back by returning. The road to the Superbowl takes years. It takes years of work, years of good picks, and a little luck. I think that if Green Bay takes Favre back then they are short sighted, how many years will he be around maybe one or two more. He has avoided injury for so long, but how much longer can he hold out. If Green Bay is going to think long term and try to win a super bowl then they need to stick with a more long term QB (aka Aaron Rodgers).

If I was Favre I would stay home. If he has to come back then I would go to hurting team that needs a quarterback. He could stick around for a couple years and then turn it over to a younger guy. If I was Rodgers I would really assert myself as the leader, but if Green Bay takes Favre back then I would look to leave and go somewhere else.

I am so tired of guys holding on to glory. I hated when MJ came back to the Wizards. Just stay away and go out on top. Brett is on top, but if he comes back he is taking the chance that we will remember him for making a huge mistake, then again it may be the best decision he has ever made, only time will tell.

Back From New Orleans - Mission Trip

My church took a trip to New Orleans to do some construction projects and work with kids. This was my third trip to New Orleans and I was both excited and frustrated by the progress. At first it didn't seem like much was happening in the rebuilding of the city, but after a closer look there was some progress. It is happening slowly but surely. Both of the projects we worked on last year are almost complete, which was a huge encouragement to our group. This year we had a built team which helped finish a house and two teams that worked with kids. Check out the blog post from our mission team and the pictures.
